Refund & Cancellation Policy

This page explains when and how a customer of Shrey Aadi Defence Academy can cancel a subscription and request a refund. It is a legal contract between the customer and Shrey Aadi Defence Academy ("we", "us") and supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Subscription Cancellation

You can stop your subscription at any time:

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle. You retain access to paid features until that date.

2. Refund Eligibility

We offer refunds only in the following situations:

  1. 7-day money-back guarantee on the first paid plan only. If, within seven (7) days of your first successful payment, you decide Shrey Aadi is not for you, file a refund request via §3 and we will refund the original amount minus a pro-rated charge for the period of use and a 5% platform fee (see §2.4 for the exact formula). This applies to the first paid plan per account; renewal payments are non-refundable.
  2. Duplicate payment. If our system charged your card twice for the same plan due to a technical error, we will refund the duplicate within 7 working days. No request needed — our reconciliation cron detects and flags duplicates. Duplicate refunds are issued in full (no usage or platform-fee deduction).
  3. Service unavailability. If a confirmed outage on our side prevents you from accessing the service for more than 72 continuous hours, we will pro-rate a refund on request using the formula in §2.4.
  4. How the refund amount is calculated.

    For refund types §2.1 and §2.3 (eligible cases other than duplicates), the refunded amount is computed at the moment the request is processed:

    Worked example for a ₹299 Monthly plan (Normal speed; no instant fee):

    • Refund requested within 0–3 days → 0 weeks used → refund ₹284.05 (₹14.95 platform fee deducted).
    • Refund requested 4–10 days after payment → 1 week used → refund ₹209.30 (₹74.75 usage charge + ₹14.95 platform fee deducted).
    • Refund requested 11–17 days after payment → 2 weeks used → refund ₹134.55.

    The platform fee covers payment-gateway, accounting, and processing costs. It is charged in addition to any usage and is non-negotiable. Refunds smaller than ₹1 after these deductions are credited as ₹0 (no transfer).

  5. Instant Refund speed and fee.

    By default we issue refunds at Normal speed (5–7 working days, no extra fee) — this is what §2.4's worked examples assume.

    If you ask for, or our team chooses, the Instant Refund speed (typically credited within minutes, subject to your bank's processing), Razorpay charges a small pass-through fee that is deducted from your refund. Based on observed pricing as of May 2026, the fee is approximately:

    Examples (refund amount before instant fee → instant fee → final refund):

    • Pre-fee refund ₹284.05 (Monthly, 0 weeks used) → instant fee ≈ ₹8.95 → final ₹275.10.
    • Pre-fee refund ₹1,234.05 (Quarterly, 0 weeks used) → instant fee ≈ ₹38.88 → final ₹1,195.17.
    • Pre-fee refund ₹3,799.05 (Yearly, 0 weeks used) → instant fee ≈ ₹119.69 → final ₹3,679.36.

    The figures above are estimates derived from a real Razorpay charge of ₹7.99 + GST on a ₹299 refund (= 2.67% + 18% GST). Razorpay does not publish exact instant-refund pricing, and the actual fee at the time of your refund may vary slightly — the confirmation email lists the exact figure deducted. Choosing Normal speed avoids this fee entirely.

    If a customer's bank does not support instant refunds, Razorpay automatically falls back to Normal speed and refunds the instant fee back to us; in that case we credit the difference to you within 7 working days of the original refund email.

    Note for cards / netbanking / wallet payments: Razorpay does not return their original payment-time gateway fee (~2% + 18% GST) to the academy when a refund is issued — it is permanently lost on our side. The §2.4 platform fee partially compensates for this. UPI and RuPay payments have no such gateway fee. See §2.6 for full payment-method details.

  6. Payment methods and where your fees go.

    Shrey Aadi uses Razorpay to accept payments. Different methods have different gateway fees, and those fees affect how the §2.4 platform fee is justified:

    You pay the same amount whichever method you choose. There is no surcharge — the gateway fee is always borne by the academy, not added on top of your plan price.

    What this means for refunds: when Razorpay processes a refund, they do not return the original payment fee to the academy. That cost is permanent. The 5% platform fee in §2.4 partially covers this non-recoverable expense, plus our own admin / accounting / processing costs. UPI and RuPay payments have no gateway fee so the 5% covers admin only — but the rate is the same across methods for simplicity and predictability.

    Tip: if you want the academy to retain the maximum possible revenue (and therefore subsidise your study materials better), pay via UPI — it's free for both of us.

  7. Quick-reference: refund amount by plan and speed.

    Assuming you request a refund the same day you paid (0 weeks used), here are the refund amounts you'd receive on each plan and at each speed. For later refund-request dates, deduct the usage charge from §2.4.

    Plan prices and the 5% platform fee are fixed; the instant fee is an estimate based on Razorpay's observed pricing. Actual instant fee at refund time may vary slightly.

Not eligible: change of mind after 7 days; partial use of the subscription period; failure to use the service; dissatisfaction with question quality after substantial use; refunds for content already attempted or downloaded.

3. How to Request a Refund

Eligible customers (paid in the last 7 days, see §1) can file a refund request directly here:

  1. Email support@shreyaadi.co.in from the address registered to your account.
  2. Subject line: Refund request — <your name> — <order id>.
  3. Body: state the reason briefly. We may ask for clarification.
  4. We will respond within 2 working days with a refund decision.

4. Processing Time

Once approved, refunds are credited to the original payment instrument within 5–7 working days. The exact time depends on your bank or card issuer; some refunds may take up to 10 working days to appear on your statement.

Free trial usage incurs no charge and therefore is not refundable. Trials end automatically at the limit (questions or days, whichever comes first) — no cancellation required.

7. Pricing Errors

In the rare event a plan is mistakenly listed at the wrong price (system error), we reserve the right to cancel the order, refund any amount paid, and notify you of the corrected price before re-billing.
